PAINTING ARCHIVE
The paintings below were painted between 2006 and 2013, shown here in descending order from most recently completed to oldest.
Many of these pieces explore themes of enchantment and wonder viewed through a lens of study, focus and discipline.
The characters in many of these pieces embody qualities of magic and whimsy, with undertones of something more serious and intentional.
The themes being explored here were inspired by years of secondary and experiential research on transformative psychedelic experiences and global shamanic traditions.
Circus imagery began to appear in later pieces when I began to work backstage within the world class circus Teatro Zinanni.
I was inspired by the extraordinary discipline I saw in the performers who pushed the boundaries of their physical bodies to create transcendent experiences for their audiences.
I saw significant crossover between the work of the shaman and the work of
the showmen, and women; using their intense training and focus to alter participants' experience of reality and possibility.
